# Detailed overview

## How to create?

To create you Roadmap Board click on the menu item to select “**Create board**“ or if this is your first board there should be “**Create board**“ button on the landing page:

You will redirected to **Select template** screen to choose one of pre-configured boards or ability to create a custom board you way.

Select “**Roadmap board**“ and click **Next**

You are one step away - just provide basic configuration to complete:

- put a **Name** to your Board
- select **Projects/Spaces **(there could be multiple so we pull work items multiple spaces)
- choose **Interval duration (weeks, months or quarters) **so we know how to locate columns and due dates
- choose **Number of intervals (up to 12) **so we know how many columns to create
- any additional JQL you want to specify to shortlist work items

Click **Create**.

> ✅ **The following magic will happen**:
> ✅ 
> ✅ - Will automatically create columns for all the periods requested, namely
> ✅   - this **week **+ next *n-1* weeks requested
> ✅   - this **months **+ next *n-1* months
> ✅   - or this **quarter **+ next *n-1* quarters
> ✅ - Due Date is set to the end of the period, namely
> ✅   - **Sun** for weekly
> ✅   - **End of month** for monthly
> ✅   - **End of quarter** for quarterly
> ✅ - We will put all the work items with appropriate due date above in specific column
> ✅ - The rest will be in “**Other**“ column

## How to use?

By moving work items in one of the columns due date will be assigned automatically to end of the period defined.

We would consider configuring swimlanes to slice the board into categories and/or topics.

To add new periods click on “**+**“ between the columns or after last one
